Regression

Regression expresses the relationship between a series of values x & y.

For a series of values x and y which form a linear relationship:

y = α + x*β

It can be shown that:

β = Σ(x*y-n*Mean(x)*Mean(y))/((n-1)*SD(x)²

α = Mean(y) - β*Mean(x)

SD(x) is the standard deviation of x.

It is important to check the Probability that the regression equation is not obtained by chance.
